Going beyond comfort. What are the real benefits of air conditioning?
Did you know that people are more productive when they are working in an air conditioned building? The benefits of a whole-home cooling system extend well beyond just making you comfortable. There are many things that we do (especially in the summer) that wouldn’t be possible without air conditioning.
From the workspace to the home, air conditioning plays a role. Here are some things that are made better (or wouldn’t be possible) without air conditioning.
People who are comfortable, work better and more efficiently. A more comfortable work environment is linked to increased productivity and clearer thinking. A cool employee is a happy and productive employee.
High indoor air quality. Air conditioning and heating systems have greatly improved the quality of our indoor air. Indoor air systems (IAQ systems) have greatly reduced levels of allergens and pollutants in the home. Take that season allergies!
Better sleep. If you have an air conditioner in your home, you can keep the windows closed at night. Even the running sounds of an air conditioning system are quieter than noises from outdoors – whether that’s wildlife or the hustle and bustle of city life.
Reduction of heat-related deaths during the summer. We aren’t even two weeks into summer and many areas of the country have already experienced one or more 100F days! Even in the shade, temperatures can get dangerously high. The only relief from summer temperatures is a quick pop into an air conditioned building.
Healthier air means fewer days missed from work. Not only does air conditioning create a more productive working environment, but it creates a healthier work environment as well. This means fewer sick days over the course of the year.
Reducing heat stress for many of our technological devices. Did you know that special air conditioning technology is used to keep data centers cool? These hubs hold important information that is crucial for our increasingly connected society.
It’s crucial for modern medicine and patient care. Comfortable patients that receive higher quality air are more likely to successfully recover. Air conditioning systems also help prevent the spread of bacteria, infections and more from being distributed throughout a hospital or care facility.
Of course, all of these air conditioning systems need to be maintained. That is what local HVAC professionals do. They help keep these crucial comfort systems running in hospitals, data centers, homes, workspaces…you name it!
How does air conditioning improve your life every summer?
I have always had an air conditioner and was wondering if they had other benefits other than cooling down the house. It is good to know that with these systems, there is a high indoor air quality. I think that it is also good for furniture, to keep things at a healthy temperature that will not damage items.
You mentioned that not only does air conditioning create a more productive working environment, but it creates a healthier work environment as well. The house that we just moved into has a room that we use for an office and no one uses it because it is so hot. Can most HVAC contractors install a vent or something to get some air conditioning to a certain part of the house? Hiring a professional to come and install it might be a good option.
I learned a lot about the benefits of air conditioning by reading this article. I really like how you explained that air conditioning can create a more productive and healthier work environment. I hope this article can convince my company to update our AC unit.
I am happy to have found this information about the benefits of air conditioning. It is good to know that this luxury actually enhances indoor air quality. This would be beneficial in reducing allergens. Something to consider would be to have the system inspected by professionals regularly to ensure that it is functioning properly.
My friend recently moved into an older home with his family. The house doesn’t have a central air conditioning unit, and he’s wondering if it would be beneficial to the home. I didn’t realize that air conditioning can help prevent stress to electronic devices by keeping them in their optimal heat range. That’s a benefit I’ll be sure to share with my friend.
I agree that there are a lot of different benefits of having an air conditioner in my house. I love that the air quality will be better which is important because I have asthma. I know that it would be quite expensive to get a system installed, however, I also know that it will be worth it. Because I am making more money than I have been in the past years I figure it is time that I finally invest in an HVAC unit.
I appreciate this information about the benefits of an air conditioner. It is good to know that not only does air conditioning create a more productive working environment but it also creates a healthier work environment. Finding an HVAC contractor would be best when it comes to installing an air conditioning system to ensure that the job is done right.
I didn’t know that air conditioning helped keep an area have cleaner air. It makes sense that as the air conditioning move the air through the building that it could help filter out some potentially infectious airborne viruses. I think that’s why it’s important to make sure that you choose the correct air conditioning unit for your home or building and make sure that it is installed correctly so it works efficiently.
It’s fascinating that air conditioning is used to keep data centers from overheating. It can get extremely hot where I live, so I know how important AC is to me and my family. I can see how proper air flow would help technology as well as people.
My wife and I recently moved out of a really cold part of the country and into an area that get’s quite warm in the summer, unfortunately, the home we had purchased doesn’t have an air conditioner unit on it. I liked that you had mentioned that if it is cooler you can keep the windows closed at night and have a quieter and better sleep. This is important because we live in a home near a large road and you can hear cars honking all night, especially through our bedroom window, we’ll have to look into having an air conditioner installed in our home.
It is interesting that you mentioned the sounds of AC units can help drown out outside noise. For me, the sound of the unit running is very soothing and naturally help me sleep. I don’t like to sleep in complete silence.
It’s nice to know that air conditioning has a lot of benefits. I wasn’t aware that it’s crucial for modern medicine and patient care. I’ll make sure to have one, when I move to my new apartment. Thanks for sharing!
My air conditioner has not been able to cool my apartment for a while now. I guess that’s why I think I’m not getting good sleep. It just makes sense for me to call a professional and have this checked out. It would be nice to sleep better again. Thanks for sharing!
We have always had an air conditioner. I knew that A/C can cool the room, but I don’t know the other’s benefit of it’s. After reading your stuff I gathered lots of knowledge regarding the benefits of A/C. Thanks, for sharing this.
I never knew that air conditioning can be a good way to combat seasonal allergies as they can greatly improve the quality of indoor air once installed as you’ve mentioned. That would be perfect for myself and my sons as we all have allergies to pollens and the occasional fur hair from our pets. It’s also very timely as currently, air conditioning is not on the demand as the season is still cold. I’ll make sure to take a stroll around later and search for an air conditioning unit that would be able to suit our needs in the summer. Thanks!
Air conditioning for me and my family is a must! But going off of what everyone else is saying here, it is amazing how many benefits come out of A/C. It is cold right now so we may be able to get the good deals on them. Just have to be on the lookout 🙂 I mean… reduction of heat deaths – if you live where we do, ya better get your AC! Thanks
It makes a lot of sense that having a good HVAC system installed is really the only respite we get from high temperatures. We just moved into a home this month and are a bit worried about the A/C not working when summer comes around. Hopefully, we can get this unit repaired or a new one installed before it gets too hot.
My fiance and I are worried that we do not have a very good AC in place in our home. We want to look into an air conditioning installation to get rid of the old version. Knowing that this will help reduce heat stress is helpful and a good motivator.
My husband and I have recently moved to a new home that doesn’t have an air conditioner. My husband thinks that we could probably make do with fans, but I am not convinced at all. So I like how you say that an air conditioner will help you sleep better because it’s quieter than your other options. My husband loves his sleep, so I’ll have to tell him. That should help me convince him that we need to find an air conditioner we can get installed.
Growing up in California, I thought I was used to the heat, but lately, even in winter, I’m overheating all the time. My work’s AC unit isn’t doing so well. I’m grateful you talked about how a more comfortable environment is linked to increased productivity and clearer thinking. Getting a new ac unit would be easier if they knew the many benefits and I could stop bringing a fan into work!
I’ve been looking into getting some new air conditioners, and I think that some information would be nice. I like that you talked about how finding an air conditioner for sale for your home means that you can sleep better. I’m going to have to look for some air conditioners for sale and see what we can find!
The first and foremost thing that I want in having an air conditioning unit is the essence of getting a better sleep. I have a sleep problem, it’s so hard for me to sleep but so easy to be awakened! Yeah, you are right in saying that even a single sound makes me awake.
I really liked what you said about how using an AC can help reduce heat-related deaths during the summer. My area has been super hot and there has been a lot of heat-related hospitalizations around, so I’m hoping to do what I can to make sure my family is okay. Thank you for the information about how a quick pop into an air-conditioned building can do a lot to help relieve people.
I didn’t know that air conditioning helped create healthier air that prevents you from getting sick. My house is constantly cold, so maybe that’s why I am not sick very often. My friend, on the other hand, get sick all the time. I should tell her this information.
That’s good to know that an air conditioning and heating system reduces the levels of allergens and pollutants in the air so you don’t have to deal with allergies as much while also staying healthier. Right now my family uses a swamp cooler but I’m looking into HVAC systems to see what the difference really is. My son tends to have a lot of allergies when the seasons change so I’ll have to look into getting an air conditioning unit to see if that’ll help his allergies since it cleans up the air.
I like how you said that only a pop into home air conditioning can really help to save you from high temperatures. My wife and I are wanting to get our house in order before the heavy heat of summer kicks in. We’ll have to look into hiring an air conditioning service to help us with everything that we need to do before that happens.
I didn’t know that besides keeping the air cold, air conditioning has a lot of great benefits, like better indoor air quality. I think that is so interesting. I will have to have a professional come to check out my AC system.
I like that you said air conditioning can help you get better sleep. I agree that being able to keep your windows closed at night can reduce noise, like you said. An air conditioner would be a lot more quiet.
My grandmother might need an air conditioning unit installed in her new home since you say that it provides high indoor air quality, and she’s been complaining about her asthma lately. She also has trouble with heat at night, so I do agree that if we contact an air conditioning installation service, she’ll be able to get better sleep as you suggest since the heat won’t bother her anymore. If she gets a better chance of living longer due to the benefit of reduction of heat-related deaths during the summer, then I think this is a good precaution to avoid heat stroke and we need to have one installed for her immediately.
Acquiring an air conditioner might finally give me some quality air as you mentioned since I really need it to prevent asthma attacks. I do like that you pointed out that it also blocks insects and microorganisms that can be harmful to my health. Since I work at home, being able to increase my productivity as you said is finally possible as long as I hire the right company for its installation service.
It would be good to have a new air conditioning unit installed. Then I would be able to get some better sleep. Maybe I should look into getting a new air conditioning unit.
Having a higher indoor air quality would be nice. Maybe it would be good to get an HVAC system installed soon. That is something I will have to look into for my new home.
I hadn’t ever thought of air conditioning as helping with allergies, but it totally makes sense! I definitely have felt the difference of being outside in the weeds and grass and feeling sick and congested, just having a miserable time, and of being inside a building with AC, being able to breathe, think, and enjoy myself. Air conditioning is essential for me to be comfortable through the year.
I never knew that air conditioning could create a healthier environment and lead to less sick days throughout the year. My husband and I need to get a new air conditioning unit, and we’re looking into some exterior units. Hopefully we could find a good concrete contractor to pour a foundation for it if we end up going that route. Thanks for the info!
It’s awesome that this article talks about air conditioning improving the air quality indoors. My best friend has been thinking about getting air conditioning in her home because of all the pollen in the air. Thank you for the information about how it can help with indoor air quality.
