Things to Research Before You Buy HVAC

Buying a new HVAC system? Start with some HVAC research

Start the HVAC buying process with some simple research

Heating and air conditioning equipment purchases are by no means a frequent thing. But, when the occasion to buy does arise, it’s not a decision you want to go into uninformed. After all, the gas furnace or air conditioner you buy today should ideally last you into the next decade and beyond.

But, what should you look up before you buy? Well, luckily we have the internet right at our fingertips! Here are some HVAC research topics that can really set you off on the right foot.

  • Start with your contractor. This is arguably more important than finding the system! We’ve said it numerous times: heating and air conditioning system quality starts with the install – make sure the person you hire is going to do a great job the first time around.
  • Understand what affects price. When you get a few quotes, you may experience sticker shock. But, it’s important to understand what is included in the price. A quality HVAC dealer may have to charge more overhead for trainings, licenses and certifications. Also, a more efficient system is going to be more expensive than a standard-efficiency model. BUT, with both of these factors, you will get money back in proper, efficient performance. Nothing is more expensive than having to replace an improperly installed system.Ask your local HVAC contractor which type of system is right for you
  • Air conditioner or heat pump? There are many different systems you can choose between. Do you need an air conditioner or heat pump? A heat pump or gas furnace? Packaged or split? The list goes on… Find out which systems are common in your area.

Need more direction? Start by contacting on of your local dealers. This will at least provide a jumping-off point.

What are some other research tops that you are curious about?

That’s so true that “heating and air conditioning system quality starts with the install.” Finding the right HVAC contractor to install and service your heating and cooling system is a big factor in how well it’s going to run. I’m building a home, so I’ll shop around for the best HVAC expert to work on it. Thank you for the advice!

One of the final touches that my wife and I want to put on our new home is a quality AC system. We have never shopped for one before though and are not sure what direction we should go with it. This helped us a lot and it seems that one of the best things we can focus on right now is finding a good contractor to help us out. We will make sure we do our research and find us a good contractor that will start us out on the right foot.

I think it’s important to talk with lots of HVAC contractors when choosing the right one to deal with. Sometimes it’ hard to find the right one, but you’ll know it when you do. Good article/advice, I’ll share with my customers.

I think that it is important to find an HVAC contractor that works best for you. I think that it is important to get to know your equipment so you can explain problems with it. That way it is easier to fix it.

Great blog post guys! It’s crucial to do your homework first when it comes to investing in a new HVAC system. It’s certainly not a decision that should be taken lightly.

Thank you for the tips. I really had no idea where to start with finding a new heating and cooling system. I agree that you should shop around and do research, but the best price doesn’t always mean the best work. I had a cousin who hired cheap and had problems all winter long. He was freezing. Thanks again for the insights.

It is a good idea to hire a contractor who knows what they are doing. I don’t like working with people who don’t know what they are doing. It just creates more problems for me, and I don’t always have time for that!

Guys, I think that the most important thing to do when you are trying to buy a new HVAC system is to work together with your contractor, at the end, they are the ones who have experience doing this job. Research is important, but first, compare what your findings with what your contractor is telling you before buying

I am happy to have found this information about buying a new HVAC system. It is good to know that whens starting this process, one should start with a contractor. I did not know that heating and air conditioning system quality started with the installation. Something else to consider would be to find a service that can accomplish the needed work for a price within your budget.
